An omega layer establishes itself

ind spe in knots at 2 p.m. Light wind conditions on Lake Geneva and a few showers, especially over the Jura, which modify the sea wind (r arrows) (blue arrow).
Block weather situation
As already in
blog post from 3.6
As describ above, the weather situation has been block since mid-May. This pressure constellation is also clearly visible in the following “anomaly graph” of ground pressure.

Over the last few weeks, a very consistent northeasterly current (Bise) has establish itself between the strong high pressure zone over the nearby Atlantic and a low pressure zone in the Miterranean, which has brought mostly dry continental air to the northern side of the Alps. In the Alps and on the southern side of the Alps, however, showers or thunderstorms could develop on a daily basis in the somewhat more unstable and humid air mass. The following graphic (Figure 2) illustrates this situation: Apart from a few local thunderstorms, it remain mostly dry in the Central Plateau, while it was repeatly wet on the northern slopes of the Alps and on the southern side of the Alps.

If you look at the altitude weather maps for today, romania phone number library Saturday, and the coming days, you can see that an Omega weather situation is establishing itself over northern and central Europe. But what exactly is that (see box below)?

Omega High / Omega Position / Block High
An Omega situation is characteriz by a stable high-pressure cell flank by two low-pressure areas. The resulting pressure structure is reminiscent of the Greek capital letter Omega Ω – hence the name. The high-pressure cell in the middle (Omega high) rotates clockwise and the two lows rotate anti-clockwise, so that the three pressure structures reinforce and block each other (see Figure 3).

As long as the low pressure area over the Atlantic

does not lose intensity, it supports the high pressure area with warm air advection on its front. This often regenerates the weather situation itself and can remain in equilibrium for several days to weeks (typically 4 to 10 days). The Atlantic low pressure areas are guid around Central Europe so that the westerly drift is block. Depending on the position of the pressure you can work on the reputation of the brand structures, this weather situation can trigger both longer dry periods and warm or cold weather, but also longer wet and awb directory cool periods, depending on the region.

Influence of the Omeg high on the weather in the coming week
A look at today’s high-altitude weather map (see Figure 4) shows that an omega situation has establish itself over northern and central Europe. A high-altitude high over the North Sea is flank by two lows over the Atlantic and over the Ukraine respectively.
